Public Service Announcement

This is our fifth Photoshop Project which involved a careful use of gradient mask and saturation.

I honestly love the gradient mask. It makes me feel so "professional" with playing with each image.

I also quite love the saturation and hue adjustments. It makes certain colors stand out. So I naturally used both.

The project was on a "Public Service Announcement" which involved us having to find the images from the internet and using them to our advantage.

As you can see, it's mainly consisted of three images. Earth was blurred out using the gradient mask AND the opacity scale. I also happily played with the colors in the background photo and made it darker to enhance the focus on the top picture.

I can get behind this one, but I honestly wanted to change my PSA to car accident awareness. Not just drinking and driving or texting while driving, but also paying attention to the lights, following the rules, blah blah blah.

I wanted to do that in honor of a friend of a friend of mine who died in a car accident. I was quite bummed out by the news and goodness rest his soul. He'll be missed...

Pretty in Pink

This is our fourth project that utilized the pen tool and more mechanical masking

Okay, the theme was, "Sell this" and we were told it would be directed to the older census, you know? Grandpapas and grandmamas looking to gift their kids something nice? Well I thought since it would have to be something like that, I chose to go with something nice, bright, and simple. Nothing complicated this time.

I have to say, it turned out pretty well and I love this particular design. It's simple, straight to the point, and the plane is the center of attention.

Some people disliked it, which irked me, but I suppose that's what happens when you open yourself to peer criticism.

Commodities Project

This is our third project, a project similar to the last one except this time, we had to mask out our chosen products

We were allowed to choose nine products that can fit within a Walmart shelf or a car. I chose my nine products, which I thought would be interesting to mask out, and went with it.

My strategy went much like this:

> Use the magnetic lasso tool to outline the mask.

> Go to quick mask mode and start lasso-ing out the unwanted parts.

> Use the marquee tool (Both oval and rectangular) to create the more mechanical edges

I find my masks on each product satisfiable and I'm quite proud of them actually.

The design, over all, however, is weaker than I wanted it to be, but I made it stand out more, nonetheless.

Exhibit Project

This was our second Photoshop project and it was a freeform project

For an exhibit project, we had to take 9 pictures from the web of any singular theme across time and utilize whatever we have to create a poster for an imaginary exhibit.

My theme, obviously, was automobiles.

I used the polygonal lasso tool to create the grey borders. Grey because it reminded me of roads and I thought it would be interesting to incorporate that in there.

I cropped each photo differently, emphasizing a difference between the old and the new. I realized soon that adding a small border in each of them would be best so I used that to my advantage.

The headline had to stand out so I used the outer glow effect on it. Notice that I used green and red as well as yellow of the sub-headliner on the top left, further emphasizing an automobile theme.

The essay was hard to incorporate into border but I found a way to fix it eventually.

And that's basically it. I personally think this stands out like a sore thumb, not in a good way too, since the pictures were arranged in a strange manner. However, I was trying to experiment and I thought why not? If it's to stand out, I think it'd be better that way.

Zoo Project

This is the first of many I shall post in this blog.

Basically, we had a project for a zoo card and we had to choose from a multitude of animal pictures provided to while utilizing the border tool.

I thought the bear was cool and it emphasized the title because it was looking directly at it so I made that my biggest picture to catch the eye.

The bottom four pictures were arranged in an interesting manner so that the farthest two are facing the center and the inner two are facing the viewer.

The font was kind of interesting and I thought it matched up the theme so I utilized it to emphasize a zoo theme.

Basically, I think this was great but I know I could have improved further with the text.
